Prior to earning her Juris Doctor degree, Ms. Licata worked for many years as a paralegal in private law firms. Thereafter working in public service agencies and in the courts, Ms. Licata gained a wealth of knowledge in varying roles in the process of family court and civil litigation. As the parent of a child with special needs, Ms. Licata has been battling school districts for well over a decade to ensure that her child, as well as friends, family, and now clients are receiving appropriate special education accommodations.

Ms. Licata is a proud member of the American Bar Association, the DC Bar, the Women's Bar Association of DC, the Washington Council of Lawyers, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates. Ms. Licata received high honors on the DC Courts' Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll.

 

Ms. Licata is fervently passionate about issues involving access to justice. After personally enduring it herself, Ms. Licata is especially dedicated to helping persons experiencing parental alienation, domestic violence, and homelessness. She understands the hardship and challenges faced by those attempting to navigate the legal system during what is usually the most difficult time in their lives. Ms. Licata knows that the odds are stacked against people with limited knowledge and resources, and is therefore willing to provide services on a sliding scale or limited scope basis.
